The Fiducie du patrimoine culturel des Augustines

The Fiducie du patrimoine culturel des Augustines is a charitable trust recognized as a registered charity. Its mission is to preserve and promote the exceptional heritage bequeathed by the Augustinian Sisters. The Fiducie has a duty to safeguard this priceless heritage and make it accessible to the people of Quebec, both present and future.

Role and missions

The Fiducie du patrimoine culturel des Augustines plays a fundamental role in preserving the memory and legacy of the Augustinian Sisters. It protects not only their archives and collections, but also the founding monastery of the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec. In doing so, it preserves a unique heritage linked to the history of Quebec and its healthcare system.

Role of the Fiducie du patrimoine culturel des Augustines

The Fiducie du patrimoine culturel des Augustines ensures the preservation of the heritage entrusted to it. It supports fundraising and promotion for Le Monastère des Augustines while ensuring philanthropic development. As the owner of the premises, the Fiducie also oversees the maintenance of this impressive historic site, thereby guaranteeing the sustainability of this precious heritage.

Cultural mission

With a kilometer of archives and approximately 60,000 artifacts in its care, the Fiducie du patrimoine culturel des Augustines preserves a living memory of nearly four centuries of history. Through a museum, exhibitions, and an archives center maintained by Le Monastère des Augustines, the Fiducie allows the public to discover the contribution of the Augustinian Sisters to Quebec’s healthcare system. This preservation work continues to pass on this collective memory.

Social mission

True to the intentions of the Augustinian Sisters, the Fiducie offers support and respite to caregivers, nursing staff, and those accompanying patients, thanks to donations generated by its philanthropic activities. This mission of hospitality carried out by the Augustinian Sisters continues today through the services offered by Le Monastère des Augustines. This translates into comfortable accommodations at affordable rates, respite stays at reduced rates, services, and activities in a place conducive to rejuvenation.

Le Monastère: pillar of our mission of culture and hospitality

Today, the Fiducie du patrimoine culturel des Augustines celebrates this heritage through Le Monastère des Augustines. The Augustinian Sisters’ wish to see their founding monastery become a living memorial is embodied in this new form of hospitality.

Le Monastère des Augustines

A haven of peace in the heart of Old Quebec, Le Monastère des Augustines occupies the historic wings of the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec monastery. With its cultural and social mission, Le Monastère des Augustines is the Fiducie’s flagship project.

As the site’s operations manager, Le Monastère offers its guests a unique rejuvenating experience. This experience is expressed through a variety of activities and services: heritage hospitality, museum, services for caregivers and healthcare providers, cultural and wellness activities, mindful eating, boutique, massage therapy, and room rentals. All of these are gateways to an encounter with the history and values of the Augustinian Sisters.

Saint-Augustin wing

The Fiducie and Le Monastère are collaborating on the conversion of the Saint-Augustin wing. This wing will be vacated in the coming years following the departure of the Augustinian Sisters. As the owner of the premises, the Fiducie’s mission is to redevelop this space for a new use. It will provide Le Monastère with the means to strengthen and expand its social and cultural missions, in line with its current vocation.

The Catherine-de-Saint-Augustin Center

The Catherine-de-Saint-Augustin Center is a place of spirituality, commemoration, and pilgrimage. Adjacent to the historic church of the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec monastery, it is dedicated to the memory of Marie-Catherine de Saint-Augustin, a prominent figure in Quebec’s religious history. The Fiducie du patrimoine culturel des Augustines supports its development, in accordance with the wishes expressed by the Augustinian Sisters’ community.
