DISCOVER AN ARTEFACT: 18TH CENTURY INKWELL

Heart-shaped inkwell from the 18th century with a polychrome floral design, removable inkpot in the center and holes for three quills.

This artefact was probably acquired by Monseigneur de Saint-Vallier (1653-1727), founder of the Augustinian Sisters’ monastery at l'Hôpital Général de Québec.

The heritage of the Augustinian Sisters’ 12 monastery-hospitals includes a remarkable collection of 40 000 artefacts and 1 linear kilometer of old books. The project Le Monastère des Augustines, which is scheduled to open in 2015, aims at, among other things, gathering together, protecting and showcasing this outstanding heritage.
