Encounter with a Soul

Catherine de Saint-Augustin entered the Augustinian novitiate in Bayeux when she was 12 years old. At the age of 16, she arrived in Québec after a three-month sea voyage during which she was miraculously cured of the plague, which broke out aboard ship. She devoted her life to serving others by practicing charity to a heroic degree. Everyone loved this young woman, who committed body and soul to her mission in New France and was of considerable help to the community. She was in charge of the expansion of Hôtel-Dieu in 1654. The pope proclaimed her ?Blessed' in 1989.
